Meeting Schedule We meet every Thursday morning except on holidays and the months of July and August when we meet every other week. There is no required attendance. Most members try to attend at least two times a month. At the beginning of each quarter members complete a form indicating when they will be available to attend and any preferences for scheduling. So, you really can design your schedule to meet your needs. Club Participation
There are three ways to participate in the club. 1. First is to come to meetings. Every time you attend you will participate. If you are not on the schedule you will be called on for Table Topics and offer your feedback to the speakers in written evaluations. 2. Secondly is to handle one of the many job duties that are assigned each week from Timer, to Evaluator, To Toastmaster and Speaker. 8 out of 10 job duties require little or no preparation before the meeting. Unless otherwise requested, each member is scheduled to do a prepared speech once a quarter. 3. And the third way to participate is as an officer of the club. This club survives because members willing rotate the responsibilities of managing the club. Officers are elected each year to handle education, scheduling, finances, membership, club communications, mentoring and club activities. Education Program Our education program is designed by Toastmasters International. The purpose is to guide you through a series of speeches that will help you learn and improve the skills needed to be a great speaker. All new members receive the Toastmaster Communication Manual which is made up of 10 speeches that can be completed in approximately 2 years. Once you have completed this manual you are awarded a CTM (Competent Toastmaster) From your CTM you go on to earn your ATM (Able Toastmaster) Bronze, Silver and then Gold. These levels are awarded as you complete more advanced manual speeches and other extra curricular activities such as outside speeches, officer positions and coaching special programs. Fees Fees are comprised of dues from both Toastmasters International as well as the club. You are billed when you join and then twice a year after that. Parking Discount coupons are available for the parking lot in the back of the Reliastar building. With the coupon you receive approximately 20% off the cost of regular parking. Booklets of ½ hour increments can be purchased from the Reliastar business office located on the 13th floor of the building. Just mention that you are with Toastmasters.
